Tahitian pearls, also known as black pearls, owe their unique rings and colored circles to the natural environment in which they develop. Formed inside the black-lipped oyster and found in French Polynesia, these distinctive hues and patterned rings are caused by trace elements and organic compounds in the oyster's environment.
