Very Peri February: Pantone’s Color of the Year

Very Peri February: Pantone’s Color of the Year

Very Peri, the newly created Pantone color for 2022, is a delightful hue of bluish-purple based on the color periwinkle. A very versatile stone color that can be found in birthstones as well as many other gemstones, agates, and jaspers. It’s a soft and calming color that is perfect for gift giving this month as this color category includes amethyst, the birthstone for February. Pantone describes the color as a “joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expression.” I love color and to me, jewelry making feels like I’m painting with gemstones.

Fashion runway trends have been full of color lately and with return to the office, social gatherings, and vacations back on the menu. Dressing up to go somewhere is exciting again. People seem to be expressing themselves in new ways and everyone could use a boost of joy. I have to admit that, while I’ve enjoyed wearing my leisure attire everyday at home since the initial lockdown began, I’m ready to bring some sparkle back into my wardrobe. And of course this includes jewelry and lots of it!

Tanzanite and sapphire may be the most common gemstones to represent the color Very Peri. However, there are many more stone choices to consider! So if you’re looking to incorporate some Very Peri into your wardrobe this year, here is a list of gemstones to consider: Tanzanite, sapphire, spinel, amethyst, garnet, purple jade, tiffany stone, charoite, purple jasper, natural druzy, labradorite, lepidolite, sodalite, bluish-purple chalcedony, Iolite, and fluorite.
