Biggs jasper is found in Oregon between two of the basalt lava flows that long ago covered parts of Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.
Discovered in 1960 in Biggs Junction, Oregon and is a variety of picture jasper and was formed as mud from volcanic ash, heated from volcanic activity and compressed over many decades. Biggs jasper is rare and is highly sought after by lapidarists because of its attractive and unique patterns.
