Carnelian is a mineral in the chalcedony variety. The color can vary ranging from brownish-red, pale orange to a dense orange-black color.

Carnelian dates back over 4,500 years to a time when ancient Egyptians and ancient Sumerians fashioned it into body ornaments. Ancient Greeks and Romans also favored the semi-precious gemstone for intaglios which men used in signet rings and women used in jewelry.

Wash in warm soapy water. Use caution with steamer and ultrasonic.
