Peanut Obsidian is a variety of Perlite and volcanic glass. The chatoyant red-orange spheres which make this stone so unique are actually feldspar crystals that have been stained red over time by a coating of hematite.

A main source for peanut obsidian is Mexico first discovered around 1960.

Wash in warm soapy water. Avoid steamer and ultrasonic.
