Has been used as a healing stone in the Middle Ages. Today it's used as a stone of protection and gives a sense of well being.

The term "jasper" itself comes from the Greek work iaspi, meaning "spotted stone.” most jasper is an opaque, heavily banded variety of chalcedony.

Egyptians believed the stone to be associated with Isis and was carved into amulets for the dead.
